FAQs
What is the London Press Service (LPS)?
The London Press Service is a UK-based agency providing stories and pictures relating to news and developments in the United Kingdom for free use by journalists worldwide. Members of the public are welcome to visit the site to read the latest news.
What is the purpose of LPS and who is behind it?
LPS provides a news agency service that is free: both to users in the world's media and to any company or organisation mentioned in a story. LPS is funded by UK Trade & Investment, a government department that supports business. However, the day to day operation is in the hands of a team of highly experienced professional journalists. This ensures objectivity, quality and focus on real news that the world's media appreciates
How often is LPS updated?
The website is updated with new articles and images every week (usually Tuesday am), and the service is delivered entirely online. Users are able to download everything they need, including high resolution images, direct from the web site.
Are stories available in languages other than English?
One key story each week is available in French, German, Spanish, Chinese (simplified), Japanese and Portuguese (Brazilian). Please look for the translation option on the web page.
Are there any restrictions on the use of material?
All of the articles are original, written by in-house journalists or by other by-lined journalists or specialists. All or any part of an article may be used with or without reference to LPS or the writer providing this is done in good faith.
Images are provided for editorial use only in connection with the accompanying article. Some will be LPS copyright, in other cases copyright remains the property of the owner of the image, but permission will have been acquired for appropriate usage. No other use is permitted.
Each image used in any media must carry a Picture Credit acknowledging copyright.
Can I access previous articles?
All articles and pictures, including those issued prior to those on view, are stored on the system and may be accessed with keywords using the Search and Image Library facilities.
